“Just shoot for the stars, if it feels right. Then aim for my heart…”
Here’s the thing – Mousertainment fans love our park entertainment cast and we love them for different reasons as they each have their own individual strengths and qualities they bring to a performance. So as time goes on, I’m going to focus on what makes these performers unique and special. If I don’t get to your favorite right away, give me time and eventually their spotlight will shine! But first off, I’m going to start with this guy…
This wild, magical, musical maestro completely conquered this Mousertainment fan from the moment I first laid eyes on him on the Mad T Party stage. I literally never tire of watching him perform.
That stage is his domain and he rules it with complete ease of natural inheritance. Everything he does up there, every move he makes, every dramatic pause is controlled, calculated, choreographed, precise, and planned for maximum effect. There is a grace to his movements though he is not a dancer per se – everything is economical, sharp and to the point.
There is a fierce beauty to him – but a coolness as well, that keeps just enough distance between himself and his audience – we can admire but we cannot get too close. Instead, those moments of connection he saves for his bandmates, but especially Alice – his onstage partner in performance. It is with her that he may let down his guard, and sparks of warmth break through.
And yet that very coolness makes him even more fascinating, maddening and mysterious a character on stage.
Musically, he has an impressive range of styles.
He can absolutely carry off the rock & roll – the fans always look forward to his performance of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” – and many have noted a similarity to Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. But what clearly brings out his pure joy in performing are the more R&B-inspired pop songs. You can see he loves it best and his enthusiasm is at its peak when he can sing and dance to Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars’ songs. He’s so good at it. And yes, he knows exactly the reaction he will get! But absolutely THE song this Hatter can claim as his signature is Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger”. Sorry, nobody can hold a crowd with this song like he can. And no one will ever be able to perform it better in my eyes!
Sometimes, if you’re very, very lucky, the right performer meets the right show at the right time. And the stars absolutely aligned when this Hatter came to T!
Is he your favorite performer?
