Character Spotlight: Captain America at Disneyland Resort

Captain America: The Living Legend and Symbol of Courage is the latest though not likely the last of the Marvel interactive experiences to be found inside the upper level of the Innoventions building in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. It opened in March of 2014 to promote Captain America: Winter Soldier, but as with all of the Marvel attractions here, it has remained open and popular ever since.

Housed in a slightly smaller area than the Thor Meet & Greet (I suppose a god needs more room than “just a kid from Brooklyn”?), there is still space for a small display of costume and prop pieces from the Captain America films.

As well as a wall featuring an array of several of the early prototype versions of Cap’s iconic shield.

But of course, the highlight is getting to meet Cap himself!

How cool is it to shake Cap’s hand?!

How cool is it to shake Cap’s hand?!

Visiting Cap is such an honor, I just love having this opportunity to meet the First Avenger and truly super hero!

For reference, however, Innoventions may have more limited hours than the rest of the park – check your daily Entertainment Times Guide for the schedule.

So. Much. Awesomeness.

So. Much. Awesomeness.

Every Marvel and Cap fan must take this chance to meet Captain America – a role model and a gentleman!

Though I do hope at some point this area expands into a bigger location with maybe a few more props or costumes. I also hope Cap is joined in the future by some of his other Avengers friends – Hawkeye and Black Widow would be good to start with since they recently made an appearance at the Disneyland Avengers Half Marathon!

Have you visited Captain America at Innoventions?

Update 3/7/15: Disneyland has just announced that Innoventions will be closing March 31st.  It is unknown at this time if the Marvel experiences will be moved elsewhere in the Resort, so if you want to visit them, you have until the end of this month to do so!  Personally, I’m hoping these exhibits and Meet & Greets will be moved elsewhere (possibly the currently closed Starcade?) at least temporarily until a new home for Marvel properties is established in the Resort.  But the Innoventions building would make a great Stark Expo or S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters with a little renovation, don’t you think?

Update 6/1/15: Cap has now returned to do Meet & Greets in Tomorrowland – he can be found doing photo ops next to the Tomorrowlanding shop.  Still awaiting word if he will return to his old home in Innoventions at some time in the future.

Update 10/14/15: Disney has announced that Cap’s last day to Meet & Greet guests will be November 11th.  He is being replaced by Spider-Man, which is disappointing to me.  I don’t mind Spidey coming in, but I would never choose Peter Parker over Steve Rogers.

Update 3/10/16: Earlier this week Disney announced that they were closing the SuperHero HQ in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland that they recently opened which had been hosting Meet & Greets with Thor and Spider-Man.  Thor is leaving the Disneyland Resort after April 2nd, while his Marvel friends, Cap (who returns after his recent absence) and Spidey will move over to greet guests at HollywoodLand in Disney California Adventure starting April 3rd.
