“So much more than a destination…”
What is Mickey and the Magical Map?
Mickey and the Magical Map is one of the larger-scaled musical productions in the Disneyland Resort. It encompasses many singers, dancers and characters performing beloved Disney songs.
The story of the show follows Mickey Mouse, an apprentice Map Maker, as he seeks to complete Sorcerer Yensid’s map to prove himself worthy of being a full-fledged Map Maker. But in the process, he learns a valuable lesson.
Who are the performers?
A large cast of dancers, singers and characters appear in the show including princesses such as Tiana, Rapunzel, Mulan and Pocahontas, as well as Mickey Mouse himself, Stitch, and King Louie from The Jungle Book. There’s also a special appearance from Sebastian the crab from The Little Mermaid.
When and where can I find it?
Performed in the Fantasyland Theatre near It’s a Small World and the Mickey’s Toontown entrance, Mickey and the Magical Map generally runs multiples times per day, several days per week. Check your Entertainment Times Guide for the schedule.
Why spotlight it?
It took me a little time to warm to this one as I tend to prefer the smaller shows like Tangled at The Royal Theatre or News Boys (to be spotlighted soon!) But this is a best friend’s favorite show to go see because of the dancers and the clever choreography, so after several viewings its high energy and story has grown on me. And what I definitely enjoy most are all the great Disney songs performed by the characters in the show.
Since this venue has a large amount of stadium seating, there’s always room to sit even pretty close to showtime. For those who have never seen the show before, I recommend finding seats towards the middle of the audience to be able to see the digital screen background best which helps you follow the story. But for those who are character fans, sitting towards the front is fun to get a closer view of your favorites! And for fans of the dancers, aim for the front or aisle seating!
