Performer Spotlight: Pat @ TOMASINA

“Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me…”

Singing backup and drumming!

Singing backup and drumming!

Beware of mad drummer in a kilt!

Well, that’s what the sign should say onstage whenever this guy is playing with TOMASINA at Tomorrowland Terrace at Disneyland. Which is happily quite often.

Pat is a regular member of the TOMASINA band and is a defining contributor both musically – by setting the beat – and personality-wise. ‘Cause he is quite a personality! His joking sense of humor tends to come out in occasional moments between songs where he may add a drumbeat for a comedic interlude or make a silly introduction to a song or other member of the band.

Pat is dressed in his Sgt. Pepper’s best for the band’s “favorite rock stars” theme for Halloween.

But he’s also a terrific drummer who I love to both watch and listen to. Regulars at TOMASINA gigs even have some favorite drum solos he does from certain songs. I am absolutely NOT the only one air drumming along with him during the Iron Maiden song “Run To the Hills”. But the beats on that one are so cool how can you not want to join in on the percussion?

He also provides occasional backup vocals to some of the songs – I always look forward to hearing the opening strains of Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life”, not just because lead singer Tomasina always slays that song, but because I know we’ll get Pat vocals during it! Wish we got to hear him featured on vocals more often!

Pat is an intrinsic, essential member of TOMASINA and a night seeing the band at the Terrace is always buoyed up by his awesome musical talent and wonderful good humor! And thanks to him as an inspiration, I continue to work on and improve my air drumming skills!

Is he your favorite performer?
