“Oh, look – a Mickey Mouse pumpkin! Happy Halloween Time is here!”
During this festive fall season, the Dapper Dans exchange their multi-colored costumes for orange stripes and their musical repertoire changes as well.
A few favorites from the regular season remain (such as the song about the creepy “Cruella de Vil” and that Haunted Mansion ditty “Grim Grinning Ghosts”), while others are re-vamped (ha!) into slightly spookier versions such as the change of “Coney Island Baby” into “Candy Corny Baby” and “Sidewalks of New York” into a song about trick-or-treating.
Appropriately eerie-themed Disney songs are also incorporated, ranging from tales of “The Headless Horseman” from The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad to “This is Halloween” and “Oogie Boogie’s Song” from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The downside of this season is a somewhat more limited group of songs being performed during the day but the upside is not only the change in their regular year-round musical lineup, but the awesome more extensive choreography that the Dapper Dans get to perform, showing off just how talented these guys are!
Plus you can absolutely tell how much fun they’re having getting to perform in a little more exaggerated style!
So if you happen to be visiting the parks during this time of year, I can’t recommend highly enough stopping to catch a few sets of these special magical, musical performances during regular park hours.
Of course, if you are lucky enough to get a ticket to one of Mickey’s Halloween Parties held on specific nights, you will get the extra special treat of seeing the Dapper Dans’ good friends, The Cadaver Dans. And I’ll be telling you more about seeing them tomorrow!
