“One day we’ll both be reunited…”
Mousertainment Memorandum: Welcome to my 300th post on this site!
I first found out last year that The Cadaver Dans were making some rare daytime excursions to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort.
These fearful fellows are the Halloween Time cohorts of The Dapper Dans of Disneyland (they have cadaverous counterparts at the Walt Disney World Resort, too!).
But in previous years, the main way to see them was to buy a ticket to either Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland or Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Last year, however, I was tipped off that it might behoove me to stop by the Grand Californian on the afternoon of a Halloween Party night. I did so and was delighted to discover that I could catch a set of these nearly-departed denizens performing from a balcony above the hotel lobby.
This year, once again I heard tales of the Cadaver Dans haunting the lobby with their mournful music, so I went to check it out…
I can now confirm that the reports are true!
The zombie-like miens of the Cadaver Dans have appeared once again to moan… I mean sing… from the balcony above the lobby. I’d suggest hanging around in the mid-afternoon in particular to try your ghastly luck – but only on days with a scheduled Halloween Party. (On other days they may be resting in peace!)
In return you may be rewarded by a set or two of ghostly harmonies emanating from above!
Mousertainment Tip: While the set list is similar to that of the Halloween Time Dapper Dans – though delivered in a darker tone – there are a few songs exclusive to the Cadaver Dans’ sets that the regular Dapper Dans do not sing including a very different version of “Old Folks at Home” than you may ever have heard before! And if your only chance to see the Cadaver Dans is at the hotel, then go for it – they’re terrific! But really the most atmospheric way to experience the Cadaver Dans is as they drift through the night fog on the Rivers of America at Mickey’s Halloween Party.

Have you experienced a spooky visit from The Cadaver Dans of Disneyland – either at a Halloween Party or in the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa? How do you think they compare to the more sprightly Halloween Time Dapper Dans?
