Rock & Brews – Food, Drink and a Side of Live Music

Once again, last week I ventured off-property to a new restaurant that recently opened at the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino because they offered an irresistible combo platter – food and live music!

This relatively new chain of restaurants was co-developed by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS and they definitely made their mark on the place.

With multiple locations across the U.S., including several in California, my understanding is that not all of their restaurants feature the stage setup that San Manuel had, so make sure you check ahead of time for any upcoming events if you’re looking for the live music part of the experience here.

Not being a beer drinker, I can’t speak to the quality of the “Brews” side of the offerings here, but I certainly enjoyed the burger and fries I got and feel it was worth the $15 I paid for them. There were so many tempting items on the menu though, that I’d likely try something else next time.

Giant Brownie Sundae – YUM!

However, the real winner in terms of taste was the absolutely AMAZING dessert I devoured in record time: the Giant Brownie Sundae. This. Was. Glorious. Literally one of the best desserts I’ve had anywhere ever! It hit all the right notes – from the served hot large brownie base to the tasty scoop of vanilla ice cream with whipped cream on top. It was perfect. I would go back to Rock & Brews just to have this dessert again!

But fortunately, it wasn’t just the dessert that was a high note of my visit. I also got to take in a great performance by one of my favorite bands: LIGHTS – The Premiere Tribute to Journey.

Yes, it was the temptation of a LIGHTS show along with that Rock & Brews menu that pulled me to make the drive out to this location. But I’m so glad I did!

Not only did LIGHTS as always put on a superb show of Journey music, but before and between their sets, the venue had classic rock videos running on the big screen behind the stage, which made for a great atmospheric background.

Oh, and I would also like to give a big shout-out to the outstanding service level at this location! Not only was everyone there helpful and friendly, my waitress in particular was a star – personable with a great attitude, informed about the dishes when I asked for recommendations, cheerful and upbeat and attentive the entire night. A big part of the reason I enjoyed my meal.

So all around I’d give this place a BIG thumbs up. Fantastic music, solid theming, good food (with a totally perfect dessert!) and terrific service. A definite recommend and I look forward to returning there in the future… especially if LIGHTS is performing!

Have you visited a Rock & Brews location? What did you think of the place?
