“If you want to be happy in a million ways – for the holidays you can’t beat home sweet home!”
While I am a fan of The Dapper Dans of Disneyland all year ‘round, I do enjoy when they get to mix it up a little during the various seasonal celebrations at the park.
Halloween Time with the Dapper Dans is my favorite time of year, but Christmas Time is absolutely delightful, too!
Like Halloween, during the holidays, the Dapper Dans get to bring in a new selection of songs with extended choreography and in this case, props!
And while there are always occasions throughout the year when the Dappers will call for some audience participation, at Christmas Time, there may be no place to hide from being selected to join the fellows to sing (and dance!) to “Mele Kalikimaka” – which is, of course, Hawaii’s way of saying Merry Christmas to you. Don’t say you weren’t warned!
This is the time of year when a Dapper standard like “Mr. Sandman” gets a holiday twist to become “Mr. Santa”. This new entry into the Dappers’ holiday sets seems to have replaced the previous years’ audience participation song, “Frosty the Snowman”. As I wasn’t a huge fan of that one – because unless the guest was game it could look pretty silly – I’m fine with this new replacement tune.
The Dapper Dans sing a range of holiday standards – from classics like “Jingle Bells” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” to comforting songs like “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and “There’s No Place Like Home For the Holidays” to the mellifluous “Silver Bells”. They also bring out their Deagan Organ Chimes for a few numbers including an instrumental version of “Joy to the World”.
And they make a sing-along out of “Deck the Halls”, inviting the crowd to join in the “fa la las”!
All around, the holiday season is brighter with this red-striped chorale contributing to the Christmas cheer!
